Redirected printers showed up just fine and print jobs from the remote session appeared to be working, but nothing ever printed. The printing problem occurred on both printers set up on the XP box, so it didn't appear to be a driver issue.
Other Windows 7 machines had no problem printing to their local printers in the same remote office. I had no event errors on either the client or the server.
